Riyadh Demands UAE Accept Yemen’s Military Pullout Request
The Saudi Foreign Ministry released a statement voicing profound disappointment regarding the "actions taken by the brotherly United Arab Emirates, pressuring the Southern Transitional Council's (STC) forces to conduct military operations on the southern borders of the Kingdom in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahara."
Riyadh, according to the statement, viewed these developments as a "threat to the Kingdom's national security and the security and stability" of Yemen.
The ministry characterized UAE actions as "highly dangerous" and "inconsistent" with the founding principles of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen.
"The Kingdom stresses the importance that the brotherly United Arab Emirates accept the Republic of Yemen's request for all its forces to leave the Republic of Yemen within twenty-four hours and halt any military or financial support to any party within Yemen," the ministry said.
The statement emphasized that any menace to Saudi Arabia's national security constitutes a "red line, and the Kingdom will not hesitate to take all necessary steps and measures to confront and neutralize any such threat."
The ministry reaffirmed the kingdom's dedication to Yemen's security, stability, and sovereignty while pledging unwavering support for the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
Officials underscored the critical importance of sustaining dialogue among all Yemeni factions to resolve the southern conflict peacefully.
Days earlier Thursday, the Saudi-led coalition acknowledged executing a "limited" airstrike against two vessels arriving from the UAE at Yemen's Mukalla Port, claiming the ships transported substantial weapons caches and combat vehicles designated to bolster Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces operating in southern regions.
Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi declared the termination of the joint defense pact with the UAE while demanding complete withdrawal of all Emirati forces from Yemeni soil within 24 hours.
Tensions across Yemen have intensified following the Southern Transitional Council's (STC) seizure of Hadramaut and Al-Mahra earlier this month amid violent confrontations with government forces.
The STC persistently asserts that successive governments have systematically marginalized southern territories both politically and economically, advocating for separation from the north—allegations the Yemeni authorities flatly reject while championing the nation's territorial integrity.
